CAN YOU HANDLE MY TRUTH?

2016. Editorial.
1/4: Innocentney; 2/4: Relationshipney; 3/4: Uncontentney; 4/4: Unfitney.

Can You Handle My Truth? is a four-part book on the life and career of Britney Spears. In a short span of time, Britney experienced extreme highs and lows, going from the sweet girl next door to an “awful druggie bitch.” The books aim to reflect the story of Britney, using found material from interviews, documentaries and blog posts. Each piece trails a subject and period in her life; how she started to struggle with her image, how her work foreshadowed the events of later years, why she fell from grace and how she rose from the ashes. The typography is sourced from Spears’ body of work, which heavily influenced the design and layout of the books. Can You Handle My Truth? questions the way in which the media treats superstars and sheds light on how the capitalist patriarchy fetishises feminine behaviour and imagery.
